It doesn't matter if you are a current IT professional or an aspiring IT Professionals we have a program for you.  New Horizons of Lexington can get you into a program that will get you not only what you need, but when you need it.  We offer the ability to gain the knowledge needed to pass the certification if you are working on a short time table.  New Horizons Mentored Learning was developed by industry professionals to provide a method of training that combines the least amount of time away from the office, and your family, with the most time dedicated to learning what you need to know.  You will learn more at your own pace, but will have the assistance of a learning guide, official course cirricullum, labs and a classroom mentor.  The classroom mentor will actually be one of our Certified Technical Trainers.  He/She will help you get started, put you on a learning path, and be of assistance if you have any questions about the material you are studying.   Our Mentored Learning Classroom is also available 2 weeks out of every month, so you can start the training at any time and finish in a timely manner.

Individuals with expertise in a particular Microsoft® product can pursue the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) credential. MCPs have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of at least one Microsoft product. The MCP credential provides a helpful first step on the way to other Microsoft technical certifications.

 

The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) on Microsoft Windows® 2000 certification is designed for professionals who implement, manage, and troubleshoot existing Windows 2000-based systems, including Windows .NET Server. Implementation responsibilities include installing and configuring parts of the systems. Management responsibilities include administering and supporting the systems.

 

The Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) credential provides industry recognition for professional developers who build powerful applications using Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET and Web services. Responsibilities include implementing requirements, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining department-level applications components, Web or desktop clients, or back-end data services by using Microsoft tools and technologies.

 

The Microsoft® Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server™ databases.

The Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) credential is the premium certification for professionals who design and develop custom business solutions with Microsoft development tools, technologies, and platforms. The credential covers job tasks ranging from analyzing business requirements to maintaining solutions.

 

The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification is the premier credential for technical professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows® 2000 platform and Microsoft server software. Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems.

 

The Microsoft Office Specialist program is globally recognized as the standard for demonstrating desktop skills with the Microsoft Office suite of business productivity applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) and the Microsoft Project applications. With a Office Specialist certification, thousands of people have demonstrated increased productivity and have proved their ability to utilize the advanced functionality of these Microsoft applications.

 

CompTIA is the leading association representing the international technology community. Its goal is to provide a unified voice of global advocacy and leadership, and to advance industry growth through standards, professional competence, education and business solutions. To serve the industry and its members, CompTIA has developed specialized initiatives and programs dedicated to major aspects of the IT industry. They include convergence technology, e-commerce, IT training, software services, certification, public policy and workforce development.

 

A+ is a solid certification that is a career door opener and the industry standard for entry-level computer technicians.

 

Linux+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of individuals with at least six months of practical Linux experience.  Professionals who want to certify their technical knowledge in basic installation, operation and troubleshooting for Linux operating systems should consider this certification.

 

Network+ is a testing program sponsored by CompTIA and geared toward technicians with 18 to 24 months of experience in the IT industry. Network+ Certification is a non-vendor, non-product specific certification program that validates your knowledge as a networking professional and demonstrates a wide range of skills required in today's network environments. The program was developed with the support of major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers, and publications in the industry.

 

Project+ is a non-vendor, non-product specific certification program that supports the transition of IT professionals and organizations from "traditional" technical roles into high value business roles. New Horizons' Project+ course is a five-day class that prepares students to take the Project+ certification exam.

 

Security+ is a vendor-neutral security certification program that enables individuals to acquire the initial skills needed to become an Information Security Professional.  Security+ is geared towards individuals who are new to Information Security and are seeking a wide breadth of fundamental security knowledge.

 

Cisco®

Cisco®  sets the standards for internetworking hardware. Cisco provides the infrastructure that makes connectivity with the Internet and Wide Area Networks (WAN) possible. Any company with an IT department, a Web presence or a WAN needs certified Cisco engineers.

 

The CCNA® certification indicates a foundation in and apprentice knowledge of networking. CCNA certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.

 

The Help Desk Institute (HDI) is a program of internationally recognized open standards designed by IT help desk experts and industry leaders. The aim of this program is to improve help desk standards and to establish a structured education and career path for the industry. Specifically, HDI concentrates on expanding soft skills knowledge, such as communicating effectively, promoting teamwork, presenting ideas, solving problems, providing excellent customer care, and managing customer relationships.  

 

This program is designed for a support professional  who serves internal and/or external customers in a technical support, help desk, support center, or customer support role. There are three certification tracks offered in this program:

HDIHDI Customer Support Specialist (CSS) Certification is for front-line customer service and support staff dedicated to providing outstanding levels of service and support. (Link to class locations and outlines)

An introduction to common security threats and issues, ways to counter them and application of security techniques to common job activities.

 

Security+ is a vendor-neutral security certification program that enables individuals to acquire the initial skills needed to become an Information Security Professional. 

 

The SCNP program focuses on defensive security technologies such as Firewalls and Intrusion Detection. Up-to-date security lessons and the hands-on labs bring the security networking world to the candidates.

 

The SCNA program focuses on the advanced security skills and technologies needed to build trusted networks.

 

This class immerses students in an interactive environment where they will learn how to scan, test, hack, and secure their own systems. Students then learn how intruders escalate privileges and what steps can be taken to secure a system.
